Which is the best search engine for a novice user?

I wanted to find a search engine for my dad that is easy to use, not complicated like most of the search engines. He likes to browse around and find stuff and he needs it to be very easy to use. Basically a very easy to use search engine.
Google is not a good answer, as it can be complicated for a novice user.

Google. Enter a term in the box and hit enter.

It can’t get much simpler than that.

Google can be as easy or as comprehensive as one needs. I would start him off with that. Also, try wikipedia. That is pretty easy to use.

it is also very secure which is a must especially if someone is no so technically aware

    One Answer Google.

If you want to search for stuff on your hard drive yes there is Google Desktop search but I find this to intensive on the PC Copper Nic is much better.

Good Luck with the new computer Dad

I have tried piles of search engines and the best one for a novice user, like your Dad, would be the SearchGeek search engine. Your Dad can go to SearchGeek by typing http://www.SEARCHGEEK.com in the browser address bar or do a Google search for SEARCHGEEK then tell him to set it as his homepage because this way it will come up for him every time. Me and my friends use it because it is so easy and really helps me to search the Internet. Hope that helps!

    Take care.
